Sustainability

When you manage pension obligations with payouts running for over 90 years, sustainability cannot be treated as a secondary issue. ESG risks that appear irrelevant today will become material investment risks over decades. For Funding Solutions, responsible investing is therefore not an add-on but an integral part of capital management.

UN PRI

Signatory of PRI - Principles for Responsible Investment

Funding Solutions is a signatory of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment. The six principles form the framework of our investment policy:

We incorporate ESG criteria into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
We are active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
We seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
We promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
We work together with other investors to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
We report transparently on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

ESG in Practice

The sustainability policy applies group-wide - across all operational units and every pensioner company on the platform. Implementation is carried out through our institutional asset managers, who systematically integrate ESG factors into portfolio construction, manager selection and ongoing monitoring.

For individual pensioner companies, we also implement stricter guidelines on request - such as continuing an existing ESG policy of the transferring company, exclusion lists for certain industries or regions, or individual sustainability reports to the former sponsor. These requirements are already taken into account during the transaction modelling phase.

Operational Measures

At FSD, sustainability extends beyond capital management. Domestic travel is preferably by rail; unavoidable flights are offset through atmosfair. Our sustainability policy is continuously developed and adapted to current regulatory requirements.
